AACA is a leading film school in South Africa, offering Bachelor of Arts degrees in Acting and Film & Cinematic Studies. We are dedicated to providing comprehensive education and training to aspiring actors, filmmakers, and scholars. We seek a dynamic and visionary leader to oversee the coordination and quality of both programs.
Because of the nature of our training, students will be fully functional when they leave. The BA is designed to equip students with comprehensive knowledge and skills necessary for a career in film production, providing a strong foundation in both practical and theoretical aspects of film and cinematic studies.
Position Details:
- Lead the overall coordination and administration of the BA Acting and BA Film & Cinematic Studies programs.
- Develop and implement strategies to enhance the quality, relevance, and competitiveness of the programs.
- Collaborate with faculty to design and revise curriculum, ensuring alignment with industry standards and best practices.
- Monitor student progress, retention, and satisfaction; implement interventions as needed.
- Coordinate with admissions, marketing, and student services to recruit and support students.
- Foster a culture of innovation, creativity, and collaboration within the programs.
- Manage program budgets, resources, and facilities effectively.

- Balancing the unique needs and requirements of both the Acting and Film & Cinematic Studies programs.
- Addressing the diverse interests, goals, and backgrounds of students and faculty.
- Keeping abreast of industry trends and technological advancements to ensure program relevance.
- Navigating accreditation standards and regulatory requirements for both programs.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with industry partners and stakeholders.
Requirements:
- Master’s Degree in a relevant field (e.g., Film Studies, Performing Arts, Education).
- Experience in academic administration, program management, or related leadership roles.
- Knowledge of acting techniques, filmmaking processes, and cinematic theory.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
- Commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
Preferred:
- Doctorate or terminal degree in a related field.
- Experience in curriculum development and assessment.
- Background in both acting and filmmaking.
- Previous teaching experience at the college or university level.
- Demonstrated success in program development, recruitment, and retention.
- Familiarity with learner management systems and educational technology.
