Position: Media Lab Technician

AACA, a leading film school in South Africa, is seeking skilled and dedicated Media Lab Technicians to join our team. This role is essential in supporting our film students in editing suites and digital labs, ensuring they have the resources and guidance needed to excel in their projects.
Position Details:
- Provide technical support and assistance to students in editing suites and digital labs, helping them navigate and use software and equipment effectively.
- Maintain and troubleshoot lab equipment, including computers, editing software, cameras, and other digital media tools.
- Conduct training sessions and workshops to educate students on the proper use of editing and digital media equipment and software.
- Assist students with technical issues and provide one-on-one support as needed.
- Collaborate with faculty to integrate lab resources into coursework and ensure that lab activities align with academic goals.
- Manage the scheduling and availability of lab resources, ensuring that all students have access to the tools they need.
- Stay updated on the latest developments in editing software, digital media tools, and industry best practices to provide the most current support to students.
- Maintain an organized and efficient lab environment, including inventory management and equipment check-out/check-in procedures.

Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Film Production, Digital Media, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Proficiency with editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, Avid Media Composer) and digital media tools.
- Strong technical troubleshooting skills and experience with maintaining digital media equipment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide clear instructions and support to students.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
Preferred:
- Previous experience in an educational setting, particularly in a film school or similar environment.
- Experience with additional digital media software (e.g., After Effects, DaVinci Resolve, Pro Tools).
- Familiarity with educational technology and online learning platforms.
- Certification or training in relevant software and equipment.
