AACA, a leading film school in South Africa, is seeking a knowledgeable and resourceful Librarian to join our team. This role is vital in providing students and faculty with access to the information and resources they need for their academic and professional success.
Position Details:
- Manage and oversee the daily operations of the AACA library, ensuring a welcoming and resourceful environment for students and faculty.
- Develop and maintain the library’s collection of books, journals, multimedia resources, and digital materials relevant to film studies, acting, and related fields.
- Assist students and faculty in locating and utilizing library resources for research, coursework, and projects.
- Provide information literacy instruction and research support to help students and faculty effectively navigate and use library resources.
- Catalog and organize library materials using appropriate classification systems and software.
- Stay updated on new publications, resources, and trends in film studies, acting, and library science to ensure the library’s collection remains current and relevant.
- Manage the library budget, including the acquisition of new materials and resources.
- Coordinate with faculty to support curriculum needs and integrate library resources into coursework.
- Plan and conduct library programs, workshops, and events to promote library services and resources.
- Oversee the maintenance and functionality of library equipment and technology.

Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Library Science, Information Science, or a related field.
- Previous experience in a library setting, preferably in an academic or film-related environment.
- Strong organizational and cataloging skills.
- Excellent research and information literacy skills.
- Proficiency with library management systems and digital resources.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to assist and instruct students and faculty.
- Commitment to fostering a supportive and resource-rich learning environment.
Preferred:
- Master’s degree in Library Science or Information Science.
- Experience working in a film school or similar educational setting.
- Familiarity with film studies and acting resources and literature.
- Experience in managing library budgets and acquisitions.
- Proficiency with digital and multimedia resources and technology.
