AACA, a leading film school in South Africa, is seeking a motivated Career Services Coordinator to join our Student Support Services Department. This role is essential in providing career counseling, internship placements, and job search support to help our students transition successfully from education to employment in the film industry.
Position Details:
- Offer individualized career counseling to students, assisting them in exploring career options, identifying strengths, and setting career goals.
- Facilitate workshops, seminars, and events on topics such as resume writing, interviewing skills, networking, and job search strategies.
- Develop and maintain relationships with industry professionals, employers, and alumni to facilitate internship placements and job opportunities for students.
- Assist students in securing internships and other experiential learning opportunities that align with their career interests and goals.
- Provide support and guidance to students throughout the job search process, including resume and cover letter review, interview preparation, and negotiation strategies.
- Maintain accurate records of student interactions, internship placements, and employment outcomes.
- Collaborate with faculty, staff, and external partners to enhance career services offerings and promote student success.

- Building and maintaining relationships with industry partners and employers to facilitate internship and job placements.
- Addressing the unique challenges and barriers that students may face in entering the competitive field of film and media.
- Keeping abreast of industry trends, job market demands, and changes in employment practices within the film industry.
- Managing a high volume of student inquiries and providing timely, effective support and guidance.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Career Counseling, Human Resources, Communications, etc.).
- Previous experience in career services, recruitment, counseling, or related fields preferred.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and networking skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of career development theories, job search strategies, and employment trends.
- Commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in career services practices.
Preferred:
- Master’s degree in a relevant field.
- Experience working in higher education or a similar educational setting.
- Familiarity with film industry practices, job roles, and hiring processes.
- Previous experience with internship program management or employer relations.
- Certification in career counseling or related field.
